Have you experienced sudden hearing loss?

If you’ve experienced sudden hearing loss it can be an intense, frightening and isolating experience. So The Hearing Clinic is delighted to tell you about Carly Sygrove, a hearing loss coach.

Carly experienced sudden hearing loss herself in 2016. It was an experience that changed her life – impacting her confidence and how she saw herself. However, it made her determined to become a hearing loss coach so she could support and empower people going through the same experience.

Carly explains more: “As a hearing loss coach and advocate, I specialise in helping people navigate the emotional and practical challenges that come with hearing loss, auditory processing disorder (APD), and related conditions like sound sensitivity and balance issues. I provide the support, tools, and confidence to help you take control of your life.”

Practical and emotional support

In her coaching sessions Carly helps clients to build their confidence and develop practical strategies to navigate life with sudden hearing loss. That might include helping them to ask for what they need at work to be able to do their job, to prepare for audiology appointments and to overcome communication challenges. Carly even mentors people through the cochlear implant experience, if that’s something they choose to do. Above all, Carly listens and supports. She also works with friends and family members of people who have experienced sudden hearing loss to help them understand and support their loved one.

One of Carly’s clients, who experienced sudden hearing loss with intrusive tinnitus, says, “The first few months were the most challenging that I ever faced and I believe my sessions with Carly helped ease my anxiety and put me on a path to acceptance and habituation to my ‘new normal’.”

Carly offers a free 15 minute introductory call where you can discuss your goals, ask questions and see if coaching is a good fit for you.
